In the wave of global energy structure adjustment, hydrogen energy, as a key clean energy to achieve carbon neutrality, is accelerating from strategic planning to industrial practice.
On January 1, 2025, the "Energy Law of the People's Republic of China" was officially implemented, incorporating hydrogen energy into the national energy management system for the first time, establishing the strategic position of hydrogen energy as a "core energy component" in legal form, and laying a solid foundation for the standardized development of the hydrogen energy industry.
Under the guidance of the national top-level design, local hydrogen energy applications are accelerating. On April 1, the "Key Points of Beijing's Energy Work in 2025" was officially issued, proposing to focus on promoting the large-scale application of hydrogen energy in the transportation field. At the same time, six cities including Hami in Xinjiang and Luliang in Shanxi have become new national hydrogen fuel cell vehicle demonstration city clusters, planning to achieve the goal of promoting more than 4,000 fuel cell vehicles by 2025, forming an industrial pattern of policy and market resonance.
The superposition of favorable policies has injected strong momentum into the development of the hydrogen fuel bus market. As a pioneer in the field of hydrogen fuel buses, Ankai is accelerating towards the "fast lane" of industrial development based on more than 20 years of deep technical accumulation.
As early as 2004, Ankai started the technology research and development and product layout of hydrogen fuel cell buses. In 2017, Ankai undertook the "Hydrogen Fuel Cell City Bus Research and Development and Demonstration Application" project, a major science and technology project of Anhui Province. By overcoming a number of technical difficulties, it developed a long-life hydrogen fuel cell bus suitable for multiple environments and working conditions, and successfully opened up the transformation channel of hydrogen fuel cell buses from laboratory to commercial operation.
At present, Ankai Bus has formed a full range of hydrogen fuel bus product matrix of 8-12 meters, and has achieved breakthrough innovative results in vehicle system integration, electric drive system, vehicle control, intelligent networking and other technologies. The operating mileage of a single vehicle has exceeded 300,000 kilometers, equivalent to more than 7 laps around the earth, fully verifying the long-term reliability of the product.
The ultimate value of technological breakthroughs lies in the refinement of real scenarios. In 2019, the first batch of Ankai 8.5-meter hydrogen fuel buses were put into operation on Lu'an Bus Route 301, becoming the first hydrogen energy bus demonstration route in Anhui Province, playing a positive demonstration role in promoting hydrogen energy transportation in the province.
In view of the excellent operating performance of the vehicle, Lu'an City will gradually expand the deployment of Ankai hydrogen fuel buses in 2020 and 2024. Today, Ankai hydrogen fuel buses have been widely used on bus routes 18, 21 and 301, significantly improving the environmental protection level of Lu'an's urban bus system and becoming a benchmark for regional hydrogen energy applications.
The demonstration operation and continuous promotion in Lu'an City have provided mature experience for the development of hydrogen-powered public transportation in Hefei. In January 2024, Hefei City opened the first hydrogen-powered public transportation demonstration line, and 23 Ankai hydrogen fuel cell buses were put into operation. The operation of this batch of vehicles has supplemented the types of new energy vehicles in Hefei, helping Hefei move towards becoming a "new energy vehicle capital" with global influence.
Long-term operation practice has enabled Ankai Bus to continuously optimize and improve its technical level in real road conditions. At the same time, Ankai hydrogen fuel cell buses are also continuously deepening scene operations, forming a virtuous cycle of "research and development-implementation-optimization". At present, nearly 60 Ankai hydrogen fuel cell buses are operating in Anhui every day. In the complex road conditions in Hefei, Lu'an and other places, Ankai hydrogen fuel cell buses have achieved efficient and green operation. Its power, economy and comfort have won a good market reputation and become a practical sample of hydrogen energy "zero" carbon bus demonstration operation.
From the laboratory to the streets, Ankai Bus has always been market-oriented, continuously promoting product performance improvement and building core competitive advantages. In view of the high-frequency operation characteristics of urban buses, Ankai has developed a 10-minute rapid hydrogen refueling technology, combined with an ultra-long range of 400 kilometers, to fully meet the high-intensity and high-efficiency transportation needs of urban buses; in response to the pain points of aging-friendly travel and the trend of intelligence, Ankai Bus has reshaped the public travel experience through a full low-floor structure, intelligent assisted driving system and other technologies, achieving a dual improvement in barrier-free access and safety warning.

To ensure the safety of vehicle operation, Ankai Bus has built a multi-dimensional safety protection system including hydrogen leakage monitoring, hydrogen accumulation prevention, and exhaust dilution to fully protect drivers and passengers.
At present, Ankai Bus is still deepening its technological innovation and research and development, and through comprehensive upgrades in materials, battery stacks, systems and other levels, it is improving the durability and safety and reliability of its products and significantly reducing vehicle operating costs. Through material innovation and system optimization, Ankai's hydrogen fuel cell buses have a minimum hydrogen consumption of less than 4 kilograms per 100 kilometers, and its energy consumption performance is in a leading position in China.
